This is no joke: April 1st is Census Day

First and foremost, I hope you and your loved ones are staying safe and healthy. This is a very challenging time for everyone throughout the world.

For the latest statewide updates, please visit covid19.ca.gov. For the latest San Francisco news, text COVID19SF to 888-777.

Secondly, I’m writing to you today because today — April 1st — is Census Day.As you may know, our U.S. Census — when the federal government counts the number of people in every community across the country — happens just once per decade, and 2020 is a Census year!

It’s critical that you, your family, and your friends are counted in the Census. Census data impacts Congressional representation, billions of dollars of federal funding for schools, transportation and emergency readiness, and crucial social safety net programs.

Whether or not you received an invitation in the mail, you can fill out the Census online here — it will take you just a few minutes!

If you didn’t get a Census invitation in the mail and don’t have a Census ID, don’t worry — after you opt to “Start Questionnaire, click on the “If-you-do-not-have-a-Census-ID” link below the “Login” button. You will simply answer a few questions about where you live before proceeding.

I know there is a lot happening in the world today, but it has never been easier to help your community from home.

To ensure our diverse communities in San Francisco and California secure the funding we deserve, we must ensure everyone takes the Census, despite the significant challenges COVID-19 presents.

By taking just 5 minutes, you can do your part in building a more equitable future — please fill out the Census today!

I’ll be back in touch with more updates about COVID-19 and how we’re working to keep our city, our state, and our world safe.

Hope we can count on you!
David
