We’re holding the gun industry accountable

Back in the spring, I asked for your help to pass our bill to hold the gun industry accountable — and demand they implement common-sense firearm safety technology. I’m proud to say that our bill is headed to Governor Newsom’s desk.

AB 2847 is a critical piece of legislation that calls the gun industry’s bluff. They have long argued that microstamping technology — which imprints microscopic characters that identify a handgun’s make, model, and serial number on the casing of every bullet that is fired — is too complicated to implement.

This bill simplifies these requirements – forcing the gun industry to stop dragging their feet and implement technology that will solve crimes and close the black market for guns.  AB 2847 also requires firearm features that will make guns safer by preventing accidental shootings.

Will you read the San Francisco Chronicle piece on our bill and share on social media?

AB 2847 was one of our most significant achievements during this difficult year, and we couldn’t have done it without your help.  Alongside the Brady Campaign, the Giffords Law Center to Prevent Gun Violence, and other anti-violence organizations,  I can’t thank you enough for raising your voice.

We all know that the Republican-controlled Congress and White House resist any attempts to hold the gun industry accountable — so here in California, we have to lead the way.

It’s time to call the gun industry’s bluff, and hopefully Governor Newsom will agree. Please read the San Francisco Chronicle about our bill, and share it on social media today.

In solidarity,

David
